Intro to Computing and Data Science Professional Development

URI Provides Professional Development that prepares a certified teacher to deliver the Intro to Computing and Data Science course.

  • The PD makes no assumptions about the background of the teacher, except that they are willing to learn.
  • The PD includes all curricular materials necessary to teach the course.
  • URI has U.S. National Science Foundation funding and support from CS4RI that allows it to waive PD costs for the 2017-2018 school year. There is no cost for this PD for SY 2017-18.
  • URI Supports an on-going Community of Practice with URI staff and all teachers teaching this course. The CoP provides an online form, a phone/online teacher help line, and site visits/in-person help.

Successful completion of this PD is required for Certificate to Teach URI Intro to Computing and Data Science.

2017 PD Schedule:

URI offers one PD training for the 2017-18 school year. It is comprised of six in-person meetings and additional online training. Those doing this PD must attend all sessions in this schedule.
