High School Cyber Security Course

URI supports high schools offering its Fundamentals of Cyber Security course. This course is the first course in URI’s Cyber Security minor and also in its Digital Forensics minor. The course describes the Cyber Security and Digital Forensics fields and their policies and procedures. It introduces the technologies used in the field, such as: hardware, basic computer networking, and cyber security tools. This is a technology-oriented course.

The course has been taught very successfully in several RI schools for the past two years with students earning URI concurrent enrollment credit, which is now free under the State’s Prepare RI program.

URI is providing free curriculum material, and teacher professional development training for high schools to implement this course.
