Middle School Computing

CS Discoveries (6-8)

URI is a Code.org Regional Partner and the designated provider of Code.org Professional Learning Programs in Rhode Island and Connecticut.

CS Discoveries (CSD) is a full-year introductory computer science survey course (can be implemented as two standalone semesters), developed by Code.org, targeted at middle school. The course takes a wide lens on computer science by covering topics such as programming, physical computing, HTML/CSS, and data. Students are empowered to create authentic artifacts and engage with CS as a medium for creativity, communication, problem solving, and fun.

Through this partnership, URI provides free materials and free professional development for Code.org's CS Discoveries program to teachers in grades 6-8 who wish to teach computer science in their classes.
